This turtle looks really troubled to me. I want to know if the owner of this turtle is treating him right or not. If this turtle is not australia writing treated right, then I will come to this place, and make sure this turtle gets justice.

“Tierschutz Euskichen” a German animal aid organisation confirmed today that in Mainz (Rhineland-Palatinate/ Germany) an abandoned tortoise – it was not a critically endangered breed though – nearly caused a car accident today. As the reptile tried to cross the road a lady saw this just in time and did an emergency brake. She then picked the tortoise up and brought it to a pet rescue. People just presume that the tortoise must have been abandoned by someone instead of having run off. After all this kind of tortoise is very popular in Germany, but hard to handle…and some people just realize too late they are not the born tortoise owners.

However another tortoise, the Western swamp tortoise, also needs our help:
If you are going to visit the website “http://www.arkive.org/western-swamp-turtle/pseudemydura-umbrina/info.html”, you’ll learn about an organisation that helps them and you’ll learn about ways to get involved.

As you know a lot of turtles and marine mammals die every year in nets that actually are meant to catch shrimps. That’s why the USA once wanted to have a law that would forbid the importation of shrimps that were caught with nets that don’t have a special construction that makes it possible for turtles to free themselves from these nets. (Nets like these do exist and as far as I know it’s illegal to go fishing without a net like this one if you are an US-citizen.)
However states like India Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand protested against this boycott, since they refused using these nets. The WTO finally decided that the USA should abolish this law…

“http://www.wcs.org/where-we-work/asia/myanmar.aspx” belongs to an organisation that tries to preserve wildlife, while “http://www.turtlesurvival.org/get-involved/donate” rather helps endangered species of turtles. Anyway both organisations give YOU the chance of getting involved.
