In the new movie Something’s Gotta Give, Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) is a 60 year-old bachelor who only dates women under the age of thirty. On what was to have been a romantic weekend with his latest girlfriend, Marin (Amanda Peet), Harry develops chest pains. Marin’s mother Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), a successful, divorced playwright, reluctantly agrees to help nurse him back to health. Once they are alone together, Harry is surprised to find himself attracted to Erica. And despite her initial bad feelings about Harry, Erica finds herself falling in love.

Miguel:  So, what’d you think about that?

Beth:  I thought it was hysterical. Like, I knew it would be funny going in to it, but I was pretty blown away by how funny that film was.

Miguel:  I thought it was funny too, but the thing that kept on seeming weird to me was that I don’t think I’ve ever watched a movie that focuses that much on, like, two older people.

Beth:  I know. It sort of makes you realize how, um, relevant age is in character development and how cool it is to actually think about characters who are different from yourself.

Miguel:  Yeah. Totally. And that older people than you still have like a real life, you know. Like you kinda think your parents sort of exist, um, only in your life, you know, but really they have their own lives too.

Beth:  What did you think about the cast?

Miguel:  I thought the cast was really good. Like, I don’t think anyone could have been cast better. I thought Keanu Reeves especially was, like, really cool and he… like even though he’s kind of a, you know, hot young guy, he didn’t seem too slick or cheesy or anything, which I thought was really good. What’d you think?

Beth:  I thought Jack Nicholson was so funny and his character was just… at first I didn’t know what to make of him and then towards the end I felt really compelled to like him.

Discussion

I haven’t seen Something’s Gotta Give yet, but Beth and Miguel make it sound pretty good. If I’m in the mood for a good comedy, I’ll check it out.
Jack Nicholson has been one of my favorite actors ever since I saw One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. That’s definitely one of the best movies and best performances of all time. If you get a chance, watch it!
See you at the movies!

I’m going to see this movie today evening.

I adore Jack Nicholson. His smile, his behavior “kills” me in the good sense of the word :)

“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” –  is my favourite movie of all I have seen in my life. This movie is an ideal pattern of the excellent job of actors.

I have read the book as well. There never will be any competition between book and movie because they both are masterpieces!!!

I love One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest  because of the subject it arises. I have got a kin who suffers with awful mental illness. :( It is a tragedy, great tragedy :( ..............

Disabled people  are also people like we all are. They do not deserve cruel treatment in the mental hospitals :(

When I have visited my kin in the mental hospital I saw the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in reality. :(
