Lesson

Mingling is when people socialize (start a conversation, chat, etc) on social gatherings, like parties, company events, holidays and similar occasions. But not everyone is up to stepping out of their comfort zone to reach out to someone they don't know or barely know. The truth is that we're not only exected to mingle (especially when this is a work-related event) but it can also work in our own interest. Mingling, also known as 'networking', is a great way of meeting new people, sharing important information, building valuable personal and professional relationships

Watch this interview with  Sarah Ivens, the editor-in-chief of America’s OK!, on How to Mingle at a Party

(the transcript is also included, below the video, but try to understand as much as you can from the video before you see the transcript)

What are the main points mentioned in the interview?

What do you think of the tips given?

How good are you at mingling?

Do you have any other tips on how to overcome your shyness and start a conversation?
