Received Pronunciation (R.P.)

DavidUK

United Kingdom

Over here in England there are many regional dialects. When one speaks of English, in my experience the type of English they refer to is what is known as Received Pronunciation – sometimes referred to as ‘B.B.C. English’ or occasionally ‘Queen’s English.’ This is quite often abbreviated to ‘R.P.’

Some of our dialects, for example Lancashire dialect, can be quite confusing even for native speakers. I am delighted to assist in any way possible if you encounter any concerns or problems.

Regards.
