Now after the so-called “Edathy-Affair” (a German politician got arrested for allegedly having watched child-porn) which lead to Germany-wide disussions about what would be the best way to protct children from getting forced into this, the radio station “Domradio” gave a very detailed report concerning this matter. I’m just going to sumn up the most important parts of this repor: Even though this of course also happens to children from industrial countries, most of these young boys and – in most cases – girls come from very poor families that hardly have any other choice as they come from economically weak countries like this one. Some don’t even have a family that could have sold them and they just got picked up fom the street where they’ve been living for years.
The Catholic church already reacted to the “Edathy-Affair” by encouraging people to send complaint- and petition-letters to their governments in order to make them add a new anti-pornography law that should forbid all kinds of pornos to prevent things like these in the future, because as you may know also adult women get force into this business.

Tragic news: Today the German newspaper “Focus” reported that in this country a gentleman wanted to catch some crabs that were supposed the next meal of his eleven children. He died when he didn’t see the crocodile that was approaching him in the dirty water of this river. Things already looked bad for his family when this gentleman was still alive, but now – with their primary source of money and food gone – the family is at the lowest point they could possibly be. Instead of learning for school the children now may have to work a little more just to get by. Instead of taking care of her children and avoiding accidents that could happen in any household with still young and unexperienced children, the mother now will have to spend most of their time working to nourish her children.
However the really sad thing is that this could have been avoided: If the economy of East Timor was a bit better, the father perhaps would have gotten a better job and wouldn’t have had to catch his family’s meals. Food would be much cheaper than it is now and even for the poor it would be a lot easier to achieve the meals they have in any food store there. Even if this person still had been so poor that he would have had to live on crabs, he perhaps would have been better educated, which means that he perhaps would have known how to avoid this tragic incident. He just would have had a better knowledge of the ecological system lake and of reptiles like crocodiles.

Shocking truth I didn’t know before: I thought that the plague, this disease we call “black death”, slowly went extinct after the Middle Ages. However I now found out that I was wrong. Especially in areas where the hygienic situation is very bad people still die of this illness. That means that developing countries and even ghettos that are located to industrial countries are affected. Since the rats and flees that are responsible for the desease won’t stay in these areas however, it’s technically seen possible that from there something like the “black death” can spread to wealthier areas, too.
The last popular case of the plague took place in the Northwest of China only 2 years ago.

East Timor is one of the poorest countries in the world. “http://compassionatealliance.org/EastTimor/” belongs to an organisation that tries to solve this problem. They even give you the chance of getting involved.
