‘WDCS’ says that the Highest Court in Wellington (New Zealand) now decided not to let the Environmental Protection Agency of New Zealand give their go for a project in a dolphin sanctuary. The Highest Court decided that digging for sand underwater in this sanctuary would be too much of a risk for the safety of the dolphins (no vaquitas) living there.
The plan was to produce iron sand from under water for at least the next 35 years. Iron sand is used in the production of steel – hence the name.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Ardern announces that seismic investigations of oil and gas deposits on the country’s shores are being halted. The risks for the already decreasing population of dolphins in this area just is too high. (“NABU”)

“WDCS” says that Norway increases whaling quota by 28% despite irregularly declining demand.

“WDCS” says that the Canadian government is going to ban the capture of wild whales, dolphins and porpoises for theme parks as part a reforms to its fisheries legislation.
The Senate bill will prohibit live imports as well as the import of sperm, tissue or an embryo/fetus of any of these marine mammals.

“WDCS” says that in Columbia a lady was bitten by a captive dolphin at a facility where visitors are allowed to swim with dolphins. The parc couldn’t even provide her with the necessary medical treatment. A local hospital had to treat the bite mark.
