#242: Two Letters

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gmpyjSW6WQ

Instructions:  Listen to the youtube video above and fill in the blanks in the transcript below (or write your answers on a piece of paper). Beginners can use the list of missing words and phrases, but if you're an advanced student, try to fill in the blanks just by listening to the video, without looking at the missing words and phrases.  The answers are given at the end of the lesson.

Main Features:  There are two main features in this video lesson.  1) The "h" is often silent in the words "he", "him", "his", "her", and so on.  These words often sound like "ee", "im", "is", "er", and so on. Similarly, the "th" is often silent in the word "them", which often sounds like "em".  You'll hear these words 8 times in this video.  These words can be especially difficult to hear when they're close to each other in the same sentence. An example is "Give them to his brother", which might sound like "Give em to is brother."  2) The combination of "t" plus "y" often sounds like "ch", for example in the phrase "When you get yourself [get cherself] into a difficult situation".  You'll hear this sound twice in this video.

Missing Words and Phrases (10):  and he [an ee] (2 times); get yourself [get cherself] (2 times); he [ee] (2 times); himself [imself] (2 times); them to his [em to is]; you know [ya know].
